For my family podcast interview I decided to interview my cousin Lauren. She is a sophomore in college and is majoring in Early Childhood Education. We were super close growing up and have a lot of childhood memories that you will hear about in the interview, like our trips to the beach, when I would go visit her in Pennsylvania or when she would come to Vermont to visit me. We are only a year apart, so we’ve always gotten along and we’ve always been super close. The reason I decided to interview her is pretty much because of the reasons I listed above. We have a lot of memories together and have always been super close, which is what I felt like made this interview more meaningful because of our close relationship. At family events we always were together. We were always told we looked alike and looked more like sisters than cousins, so I think that also influenced our relationship because of how close we were. We pretty much share the same memories besides when we were separated. Although she lives in Pennsylvania and goes to school there, we still talk all time, and she still comes to Vermont to visit me, which is how I was able to do this interview. I asked her questions about growing up like who has had one of the biggest impacts on her life, things like that. Interviewing her was nice because we were both able to reflect on our childhood which is what my intention was, and I was able to get to know more about her childhood from what I missed because we live 7 hours away from each other. This was meaningful to me and a good way for me to remember good memories I had with my cousin and being able to enjoy hanging out with her.
